EFI Appeals for Peace, Restraint, and the Safe Return of All Missing Persons in Manipur

10th June 2026
The Evangelical Fellowship of India welcomes the safe release of the fourteen Kuki civilians in Manipur on 9 June 2026. We thank God for their safe return and acknowledge with appreciation the efforts of all community leaders, church leaders, civil society organisations, authorities, and others who worked towards this humanitarian outcome.
At the same time, EFI remains deeply concerned for the six Naga civilians who have not yet been reunited with their families. We continue to pray for their safe return and for strength, comfort, and hope for their families during this painful and uncertain time.
Our prayers remain with all families and communities in Manipur who continue to bear the burden of loss, displacement, uncertainty, and fear. The suffering experienced across communities over the past years serves as a reminder of the urgent need for peace, healing, and reconciliation.
This is a deeply sensitive moment for Manipur. EFI appeals to all communities, leaders, organisations, and citizens to exercise utmost restraint and not allow grief, fear, anger, rumour, or misinformation to lead to further hostility or violence. We urge all concerned to reject violence, retaliation, and actions that may deepen mistrust or prolong the suffering of affected families and communities.
EFI respectfully urges the Government of India and the authorities responsible for the administration of Manipur to intensify all necessary efforts to secure the safe return of those who remain missing, provide timely and accurate information to their families, maintain law and order, and take every step necessary to prevent further escalation. The protection of life, dignity, and security of every citizen is a fundamental responsibility of the State.
EFI also appeals to churches and Christian leaders across all communities in Manipur and the wider Northeast to continue serving as instruments of prayer, peace, dialogue, and reconciliation. In a time of deep wounds and mistrust, the Church must bear witness to the reconciling love of Christ and stand with all who suffer, without distinction.
EFI prays for the safe return of those still missing, for healing for all affected families, and for peace with justice in Manipur. May truth prevail over rumour, compassion over fear, and reconciliation over retaliation.
