Lent Devotional: Day 20
Risen Saviour – Alive Forevermore
Mrs. Meena Baraiya
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (Revelation 1:17,18)
“Because I live, you also shall live.” (John 14:19)
Lord Jesus promises ABUNDANT LIFE on earth and after that ETERNAL LIFE in heaven with Him!
Christ Jesus our Lord died for our sins and rose again victorious over death and the grave! Hallelujah! No more death, as apostle Paul writes, ‘Death is swallowed up in victory’. That means for those who are IN CHRIST, the sting of death is removed. We who have put our faith in Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, have received forgiveness of our sins by the power of His Holy blood – none of us will die, but we will live for eternity!
Our mortal bodies will be laid to rest, as Jesus changed death into a sleep! It will be a long sleep, and we will rise again as promised! Death will only be a means of transportation for us, that will usher us into the Blessed Presence of our beloved Saviour and our Heavenly Father. Blessed rest! Hallelujah! That is why when our loved ones pass away, we do not grieve or mourn like the worldly people, because we know they are promoted to glory, and when our life on earth ends, we too will be promoted to glory! NO PAIN OF PARTING ANYMORE!
While we rejoice in the sure hope we have, let us also have compassion on the lost. There is no hope for those who look for salvation anywhere else except to the Lord Jesus. It is only by faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross, that we are saved. By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone… ! As He has clearly said, “I AM THE WAY, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
The Psalmist says, “I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.” (Psalm 118:17). He not only had an assurance of overcoming death, but also a PURPOSE for which he was alive – to proclaim the works of the Lord! We too have God’s plan of salvation, purpose of our life and as we proclaim our victory over death and grave, we will surely manifest the glory of God through our lives! Hallelujah to the RISEN SAVIOUR who is ALIVE FOREVER MORE and will KEEP US WITH HIM FOREVER MORE! Our body will turn to dust but our bones will be given a new GLORIOUS BODY! TO GOD BE ALL GLORY IN JESUS NAME. AMEN and AMEN!
