EFI Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack, Calls for Prayers and Justice
pahalgam, terrorist attack, tragedy
23 April 2025
The Evangelical Fellowship of India expresses deep grief and anguish over the heinous terrorist attack that occurred on April 22 in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, claiming 28 precious lives and leaving many others injured.
We strongly condemn this act of violence that has shattered families and brought immeasurable suffering to our nation. Every life lost represents a terrible tragedy – someone’s child, parent, sibling, or friend whose absence will be deeply felt by their loved ones.
At this moment of national mourning, we stand in solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured. We also extend our prayers to the leaders and security personnel working tirelessly to provide assistance and restore peace.
Scripture reminds us that the Lord is “near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). In this spirit, we call upon churches across India to join in earnest prayer:
- For God’s comfort to embrace the grieving families
- For healing for the injured
- For wisdom and discernment for our national leadership
- For peace to prevail in the Kashmir region
- For justice to be served through proper legal channels
We pray for justice to be served through lawful channels and for our security forces as they work to protect innocent lives. We also pray for lasting peace in the region and for an end to the cycle of violence that has claimed too many lives.
In this time of national grief, we join with all people of goodwill across India in praying for healing and restoration in Kashmir. May we as a nation find strength in our unity and resolve to stand firm against those who seek to divide us through violence and terror.
May God grant strength to the afflicted, wisdom to our leaders, and peace to our troubled regions.
In solidarity and prayer,
Rev. Vijayesh Lal
