Lent Devotional: Day 33
Renewal and Transformation with God
Mr. Surender Pokhal
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2
Throughout Scripture, God calls His people to renewal. In Ezekiel 36:26, He promises, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.” This is the essence of transformation—allowing God to remove the hardness in our hearts and replace it with one that beats in rhythm with His.
Lent offers us a sacred opportunity to step away from the noise of the world and allow God to reshape our hearts and minds. While many of us associate Lent with giving up certain comforts, its deeper invitation is to experience true transformation—letting go of the old self and embracing the new life found in Christ.
Paul urges believers not to conform to the world’s patterns but to be transformed by the renewal of their minds (Romans 12:2). The world promotes self-reliance, pride, and temporary satisfaction, but God offers lasting peace, joy, and purpose. True renewal happens when we shift our focus from worldly desires to God’s eternal truth.
At the heart of this renewal is God’s Word. Jesus declared in John 17:17, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” As we immerse ourselves in Scripture during Lent, God reshapes our minds, replacing deception with His truth and weakness with His strength. But transformation is not just about gaining knowledge—it is the work of the Holy Spirit within us. As 2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds us, “We all… are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” When we walk in the Spirit, renewal moves beyond outward change—it reshapes our very nature, drawing us closer to Christ.
This Lent, let us fully embrace God’s renewal and step into the transformation He desires for us. Renewal is a continuous journey of drawing closer to Him. As we pray, fast, and seek His presence, may our hearts be softened, our minds renewed, and our lives aligned with His perfect will.
