Lent Devotional: Day 27
Faith in the Unknown: Trusting God in Every Season
Mr. Surender Pokhal
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7
Faith is more than belief; it is trusting God even when we cannot see the full picture. Often, we long for clear answers and visible signs before taking a step forward. Yet, God calls us to walk by faith, relying not on what we see but on who He is.
Abraham’s story in Genesis 12 is a powerful example of trust. God called him to leave his home and journey to an unknown land. He had no roadmap, no certainty—only a promise. Yet, he obeyed. His faith was not in circumstances but in the faithfulness of God.
Fear often competes with faith. We fear the unknown, the future, and even whether God will provide. But Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:26 that if God cares for the birds of the air, how much more will He care for us? Our trust in God deepens when we rely on Him and surrender our worries to Him.
Trusting God does not mean we will always understand His ways. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. This is difficult because we naturally rely on logic, plans, and security. But true faith means believing that God’s ways are higher than ours, even when life does not make sense.
This Lent let’s take small steps toward deeper trust. Pray with surrender, shifting from seeking answers to asking for faith in God’s plan. Reflect on past moments when He has provided, guided, or answered prayers as reminders of His faithfulness.
As we trust God fully, we experience His peace. Philippians 4:6-7 assures us that when we bring everything to Him in prayer, His peace will guard our hearts and minds. This peace is not based on perfect circumstances but on the unshakable presence of God.
As we journey through Lent, let us examine ourselves and consider where our trust truly lies. Let us press on to choose faith over fear, surrender over anxiety, and trust over doubt. May we walk by faith, trusting that God is always leading us, even when the way is unclear.
