    Lent Devotional: Day 13
    Vessels of His Glory
    Rev. Vijayesh Lal

2 Corinthians 4:7 – “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”

Whether we’re rushing to catch a local train, working long hours at a construction site, teaching in a classroom, or managing household responsibilities – how often do we pause to remember this fundamental truth? We are vessels in the Master’s hands. In the midst of your daily struggles and responsibilities, can you take a moment to ponder this reality?

The Bible speaks of vessels – simple containers used for God’s glory. In our world where worth is measured by possessions and status, God works differently. He deliberately chooses ordinary people like you and me to carry His precious treasure. Not the wealthy or powerful, not the ones society considers important, but common vessels. Why? So that everyone can see that the extraordinary power comes from Him, not us.

Think about this truth when the day feels too long, when the work seems too hard, when providing for your family feels overwhelming. Your very ordinariness, your struggles, your daily challenges – these are what make you perfect for His purposes. When people look at your life and see God’s strength shining through, they know it must be Him at work.

During this Lenten season, while the world chases success and recognition, let us embrace our identity as His vessels. When you wake up early for prayer, when the day’s burdens feel heavy, remember – it is precisely in your limitations that God’s power shines most brightly. Your struggles aren’t a barrier to God’s work; they’re His chosen canvas.

    Prayer:

Lord Jesus, you see me exactly as I am – with all my weaknesses and struggles. Today, I surrender myself again as a vessel in Your hands. Empty me of my pride, my self-sufficiency, my doubts. Fill me with Your power, Your presence, Your purpose. Use my ordinary life to show Your extraordinary glory. In Your precious name, Amen.
