2022 Lent Devotional – Day 24
Our Life is Sacred!
(James 4:14)
Here in verse 14, James uses the pronoun, “your.” It is significant that he uses this word because it defines whose life he is talking about. James doesn’t use other pronouns like her, his, their, or even my. He uses the pronoun “your” because you are responsible for your own life. It is YOUR life. However, this doesn’t mean we should live our life any way we want. Who gave you your life?
God formed us and created us. He gave us life. When God created man in the Garden of Eden, He formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into him and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). Not only that, but God created us in His very own image, every one of us(Genesis 1:26-27)! What this means is that life is sacred! Our life is sacred because it came from God. Our life has value and God has stamped His image on us!
We also learn from Jeremiah 1:5 that God knows each one of us before we are ever formed in the womb. If God knows everything about us before we were born, we must be very important to Him. Why? Because our life is sacred, and most importantly He cares about our life!
