    Waiting on the Lord

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)

Patience is a virtue, rightly said. And this virtue is exhibited when we have to wait during the difficult circumstances of our lives. Patient endurance during these situations encourages our faith in God and strengthens it.  However, it is also during these painful and tough circumstances of our life, that our faith is tested. We are overwhelmed with the difficulties that we encounter in our lives, and we grow weak and weary. We lean on our own limited wisdom and understanding, trying to resolve everything ourselves, but we stumble and fall, because our own strength is incapable to weather the storms of life.

We fail to realise that we are incompetent, and it is only when we admit that we are weak and surrender ourselves that God’s strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. It is the strength of the Lord that sustains those who do not rely upon their own abilities.

Hold me close, Let Your love surround me
Bring me near, Draw me to Your side
And as I wait, I’ll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You, Your Spirit leads me on
By the power of Your love !

We have to courageously remain firm and unshaken during the painful seasons of our life and confidently wait for the Lord to intervene and reveal His faithfulness.  That is when the wind of God will lift us up on eagles’ wings and carry us through life’s stresses and strains.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that I am weak and that my strength is only found in you. Grant me courage to surrender myself to you and to patiently wait on you as you work in my life. Your grace is sufficient for me, Lord. Take me by your hand, Lord and lead me through the difficulties of life, for you are good to those who wait on you, seek you, trust you and love you. In your precious name, Amen!
