"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
God loves the nation of India and is at work in it. The Church has been called to pray and work for the peace, prosperity and stability of the nation. The state of our nation and the challenges it faces, stirs us to look to the face of the Almighty God and to pray for His unceasing blessings on India.
Recognizing the need for intercession, the Evangelical Fellowship of India humbly initiated the "National Day of Prayer Campaign" in 2017. EFI Member Churches and Bodies resolved to observe the National Day of Prayer annually on the Sunday closest to Independence Day of India.
Last year over 30000 churches belonging to various denominations across India joined in the intercession for the needs of the nation, united in prayer.
This year EFI is humbly facilitating the observance of the National Day of Prayer on 18th August 2019. We appeal to all Churches, Prayer Movements, Christian organizations and individual Christians across denominations, to observe 18th August 2019, which is a Sunday, as a day dedicated to prayer for the well-being, peace and prosperity of our country.
Resources for the National Day of Prayer can be downloaded from the website: www.nationaldayofprayer.in. Information about the event is also available on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/EFoIndia. You can also download the prayer guides from the links below.
While EFI constituency is engaged in this effort, in reality this is an ecumenical movement, freely owned by all and most certainly requires our united efforts which undoubtedly will promote unity and revive our witness and service by the grace of God.
In order to achieve this, we seek your support in disseminating this information to your churches to be a part of this initiative. I request you to please endorse this call to prayer and if possible, send us a statement from your side, which we will print in the communications and website for the event.
With warm regards,
Rev. Vijayesh Lal
